Our Mission and Values

Mission Statement

The Hornell Public Library is a community based agency whose primary purpose is to provide information, education, and recreation to people of all ages through an organized collection of print, non-print materials, and access to digital resources and technology.

Vision Statement

The Hornell Public Library is in a dynamic partnership with our community, providing information resources and services to support the advancement of knowledge, personal growth and lifelong learning.

A Century of Commitment

For more than 100 years, the Hornell Public Library has given the people of Hornell, NY, a welcoming place to congregate and enjoy reading and learning. Whether you’re looking for a book, audiobook, CD, or DVD, our friendly staff is always ready and willing to help you find it.

Our collection of materials is vast, but we’d particularly like to highlight our extensive number of children’s books, many of which are primarily written in Spanish and French. In addition to the numerous pieces of literature that we have on hand, our patrons have access to a number of reference databases, such as America’s News Database, Hornell Evening Tribune, and Heritage Quest.
